A peaceful friendly retreat. Staff are so helpful and warm. There seems to be a never-ending supply of wonderful home cooked cakes and biscuits. Don't go if you want to lose weight!

It is a very tranquil retreat catering for people from all sorts of backgrounds. It can be for meditation, prayers crafts such as knitting or crocheting or just respite from busy lives. My wife has just been for the 2nd time and enjoyed meeting new people and catching up with those from last year. As a visitor I was made to feel extremely welcome.

Staff were able to cater for my dietary requirements, however most of the other guests created a little flock of their own and did not bother to talk to to others, I was left to eat with the same 3 people who I might add were also left out, as for fellowship ( it was non existant) such a shame. Was glad to go home. I have been a Christian for many years now and have never experienced a holiday like this. It wiill take some convincing for me to come back.

I went on a retreat lasting one day see the website Uretreat. It does exactly what it says on the tin, designed for those who are bereaved or anxious for a respite from caring duties this is an excellent organised day to unwind. Simple but beautiful cooked meal gentle activities time to talk without any pressure, great surroundings inside and outside. I used the train from Newcastle and was met at the station public transport is available from most local places. Carers if you can get a day off I would heartily recommend this retreat, or as like myself after many years of caring you are now grieving for the one you love this day is very helpful.

Shepherd's Dene will always be, to me, a special place - of reflection, prayer, healing and retreat. A warm welcome, good food and comfortable accommodation, coupled with glorious views and a peaceful, prayerful garden.
