My mum spent the last two years of her life in Hampton House, the dementia unit at Wentworth Grange care home. She had advanced and worsening Alzheimer's, and the illness meant that she was sometimes quite awkward to deal with, but she was treated with great understanding and kindness by the staff. I'd particularly mention Paul and Anja, who were really lovely to her, but they weren't the only ones - nearly all the staff seemed very good. The only downside really was the organisation, which was fairly chaotic for the relatives, in terms of basic things like seeing the contract, getting the bank details for payments etc. Friends who've used the home for respite care for their relative have said the same. The manager is very keen that this care home, or 'Residential hotel for the elderly' as he likes to call it, should be a really successful business, and he likes to come over as super-efficient in the way he runs it. A little bit more attention to the basics as experienced by relatives of those living there wouldn't come amiss. But that aside, I would definitely recommend Hampton House as a caring and well-run dementia unit which gave my mum as positive an experience as I think she could have found anywhere, in the last stages of a devastating illness.
